A TRIP to BHADRA (1)

I was on a trip to Bhadra. Destination "Jungle Lodge".
We reached Bhadra on Thursday, and we returned back saturday night. Apart from the 7 hour journey, the trip was nice, not only because of the serenity of the place, or the silence of the jungle, but also because of the enthusiasm of people, our batteries were fully charged.

On the last day, me and my Colleagues were having food. Typical Indian food, nice curry, dhaniya chicken, and fish fry. I had stuffed my stomach enough to sustain my biological need till night.

When I was done with my stuffing, I came out and went to the back side of the dining room. The dining place was standing like an island, in the midst of a dense jungle.

Suddenly some movement in the nearby bush caught my attention. Nothing scary, a cat, a wild cat it was. I was wondering whether it will respond to me. I started calling it, to my awe it understood my language !! It came closer to me. I knew it was hungry, but did not have anything to give. Believe me, not many people would like to entertain a cat, specially if it is not their pet.

I was feeling bad for not giving any food to the poor cat. I decided to ask the cook to give me a piece of fish fry ,and he was nice to give me one. I did not realise that the fish fry was hot. 'Mini' took a large bite and then she realised that the fish was hot. I came to know from her eyes, like she expected me to be more careful while serving her the food. "I am sorry Mini :(".
"Mini"?? I gave her this name.

She was so hungry that, she finished it with in a minute. I was staring at her. Mini was very busy eating :). Then she looked at me, and came more closer ... asked me to give more fish ... by making a peculiar sound , in a fashion that she had every right to demand more.

My trainer told me that normally cats are not loyal, and neither they show their gratefulness @#@$. Sigh !! I dont care ....
Mini's eyes were wet , and she respected my feeling, for whatever little I offered her.
May be the cats know whom they should respond to ????

It was time to depart.
I bade goodbye to her and started towards my destiny. She was still standing there, looking at me. I turned back ......... I saw two still eyes .... so deep and silent..... they were trying to convey something ..... something .... it cannot be only food or a mere fish piece .....First time I was not able to interpret her eyes ......

COMMENTS ON MY BLOG: nice poems :)

-------------------------------------------------------------

Lead, kindly Light, amid th’encircling gloom, lead Thou me on!
The night is dark, and I am far from home; lead Thou me on!
Keep Thou my feet; I do not ask to see
The distant scene; one step enough for me.

I was not ever thus, nor prayed that Thou shouldst lead me on;
I loved to choose and see my path; but now lead Thou me on!
I loved the garish day, and, spite of fears,
Pride ruled my will. Remember not past years!

So long Thy power hath blest me, sure it still will lead me on.
O’er moor and fen, o’er crag and torrent, till the night is gone,
And with the morn those angel faces smile, which I
Have loved long since, and lost awhile!

Meantime, along the narrow rugged path, Thyself hast trod,
Lead, Savior, lead me home in childlike faith, home to my God.
To rest forever after earthly strife
In the calm light of everlasting life.

When you get all you want and you struggle for self,
and the world makes you king for a day,
then go to the mirror and look at yourself
and see what that man has to say.

For it isn't your mother, your father or wife
whose judgement upon you must pass,
but the man, whose verdict counts most in your life
is the one staring back from the glass.

He's the fellow to please,
never mind all the rest.

For he's with you right to the end,
and you've passed your most difficult test
if the man in the glass is your friend.

You can fool the whole world,
down the highway of years,
and take pats on the back as you pass.

But your final reward will be heartache and tears
if you've cheated the man in the glass

The bizarre of each and every life, lies in its annonymity;
Known for so long, then also astonishes with its ability!
Alacrity again holds high, overcoming its every trial;
Ambiguous may be, but still manages pace on the dial!

Its esteem may not have been ever appreciated;
May be noone ever bothered, where it was located,
But then also, one day if it disappears from there,
Subconsiously eyes will search for something atleast SIMILAR.

Never any smith feared the temperature of the forge,
Unless and untill, impacted his metal to become coarse.
For he, who knows better, that his iron has to melt,
And that too bearing the penance of pelt.

Stopping By Woods On A Snowy EveningWhose

woods these are I think I know,
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

A Horrible Memory.........

I was walking in my past memories, last night, with my awe I woke up at 3:00 in the night.. thats never been a normal time for me, infact I am a late riser. You must be guessing how
wonderful the dream was ? .... Yes it's always nice to recollect the old memories, specially, if it is your childhood experience.... Imagine you are walking through a small rustic village path, nobody is there around, to bug you, not even a stray dog to follow you, and only melancholy sound of night birds and crickets, tearing the silence of a lonely night!!! Sounds Romantic ? No!! certainly not!! At this point the story slightly takes a twist, a kid badly wants someone's company, expects someone to whisper in his ear, and assure, "Hello! You are Alive". So badly he wanted that day ....the day he has never faced before in his life ......

He landed up in a small railway station, it was in the evening 6:00 pm, and was planning to visit his aunt's house. He had visited there several times. It was not a big deal for him, a guy who had grown enough to remember adresses and a long 14 years of experience, he had in this earth, a experience that taught him, how to deal with different situations.

He was bold and was not afraid of anything. He knew he had to travel by bus almost 20 km, that would take two hours, over the muddy roads. Then he had to catch a three wheeler and travel almost 5 km taking a narrow road, a road that runs over craters, some asphalt coating, fields and most interestingly touching two temples. That would surely give him a lot of energy and confidence for rest of the journey. Till that point, he was a positive thinker, and roughly he estimated to reach near his aunt's house round 9:00, provided every thing went fine and he gets the vehicles in time. Then almost 30 minutes walk through the paddy fields, a small hilly jungle, followed by a very sacred place "Grave Yard". ("Sacred" : May be his positive approach of taking heaviest things). He tries to recollect what his mom told just before he started, "if u think of God, nobody can bother you". He felt like believing this statement that night more than ever before, and why not he knew his friends were 'day dreamers' and only believed in supernatural things that had place only in fairy tales.

"But 9:30 is too late and people will not be awake till then."
He was lucky that day so far, and reached near the place called SPJ Colony, by 9:00, now what remained was the thirty minutes walk.
He could easily cross that path, but the only concern in his mind was his heavy weight side bag. He had nothing much in it,apart from a couple of books, some spare dresses and a water bottle. The boy crossed the Grave Yard, thank god , he did not want to look back, "he was not at all scared" but "what's the use of looking back a grave yard?".

He reached near the jungle soon, now he could feel some life around, some one seemed to be near to him , even if it was a wild jackal he wouldn't mind. A
ctually he wanted some one to be with him, to give him company, some one who would be awake so late. Some one living in a place where there was no street light illuminating the roads in the night, like a merciful witch in a city of death. Ackward thinking!!! correct ? but wasn't it a normal idea for a kid like him ?

He increased his speed, the road did not seem to end for him, that was horrible, he planned for just thirty minutes and he had already walked for one hour by then !!!!!! He had no watch to justify his point neither he had a mobile to call up his aunt and ask "Are you still waiting for me?".
He knew he will have all these luxury some day, only if he studies hard. "But what about those people who are living there and cannot change their fate so easily?"

Night seemed to be very cruel and also getting denser and darker. The sharp cry of jackals and wolves started fading around... he came near the paddy field. Thanks to the fire-flies for providing some hope in the form of light. He walked past a hindu samshan (where a corpse is still burning), nobody was near that cremation ground, he stopped for a moment and thought of that unfortunate soul.

Suddenly ! something stuck to his foot, a pair of shoes ..... scattered in a wiered fashion..
Next to it, there was a big crater. He realised that was not a crater, may be a patch of diesel or ... he could not confirm it in such a dark night. He saw some light from a nearby bush ... red constant light, he could not relate it with any worldly material. Then he realised some people were whispering. Whispering like nobody can listen to them, totally unaware of the fact that there was a passer by, a boy of 14 years of age, who was listening to that. A boy who was dying to hear someone's voice. They were talking about how they stabbed a guy, and how his intestines came out ... death... menace... murder .... shattered shoes , clothes ...... unbearable....
May be the patch was clotted blood ... and the shoes ?? "does the victim's family know?"

He started running harder and harder, some stray canines started following him, making unbearable sound, the ground was uneven, he fell down . But did not even get a scratch, may be he did not bother at that moment. Now he could see a hope , some light ,just ten meters ahead, there was his aunt's house.

That too looked like an haunted house for him, but supernaturals were more welcome than the earthly beasts. He was saved , he entered the house when his cousin brother asked "dada , you came running ?".
He told " No" with trembling voice.

He saw the waterbottle was missing , did it fall down?
His jeans was also torn. Thank god he was saved. But he had to lie to his cousin.
How could he, "a matured young man of 14 years tell his little brother that he was frightened on the way"!!!!!!!!

Even he was confused, why was he running? To save his life or to escape from the harsh reality.?????

conglomerate vs others !!!

The basic difference between a conglomerate and a single product company is that one deals with multidimension business and other is specific to a product. Lets look into this bipartisan idea.... !! (can it be termed like this ????)

Not really!! they are the two facets of business, coined in reverse fashion.
Lets take an example of Nokia... were they a mere mobile manufacturing company? No they had a varied range of consumer electronic goods (when they started) .... but after their operational disaster they shifted to a specific domain.

Now we take an example of conglomerate... HP, IBM ... in India Tata...
What is the synergy that is driving them? Tata, a back bone of Indian economy, is holding almost 80 companies (Tata sons) catering to different areas like steel, automobile, heavy engineering, chemicals, consumer durables, food, software .............
Its software wing, TCS employs almost 80 thousand employees :0 . Where do the Tatas get such a huge amount to capture Indian Real estate business? That is where the benefit of being a multi "cuisine hotel" lies. Market is changing and also ever growing ... but when we say "ever growing" we cannot ensure which field will come up and which business will face a bear. New acquisition of Anglo-Dutch barron Corus also reveals the same story. Tata steel was not the top performer in India, but managed realize one of the largest acquisitions of this year: Rolling steel wheels !!!!

There are some players who take a mid way ... like Mittal steel, they do not want to invest in totally diverse field , rather they have chosen for all together a different business... "eau de cologne". Mittal was not hugely into business of steel plates.. like Arcelor, but this helped them to capture more diverse area and market. The strategy is to make a strong hold such that a paralysed segment can be insured by the pie of a perfect limb. If not for a long run , may be for a short spell.

The question still remains unanswered!!! which one is better, lets dig a bit deeper. IBM which had a multi-dimensional business (server to pc software to hardware) had established their ground in the market. This helped them to capture the largest pie of the global services industry, "IBM on demand". Can a new start up with a huge funding, achieve such a big height with in such a short time span.... I doubt..

Lets take another example of Hewlett Packard, influenced by IBM they have also concentrated on services. Was it possible to do without such a huge brand name? (HP is basically known for its IPG group , printer segment, headed by VJ). HP innovation :)

The same trend follows when we watch closely MICROSOFT'S operations... capturing all segments of Tech - industry , crm, finance, os, pda, search engines and also gadgets (xbox...). That's Bill's way to put foot mark. Why not get Customers of diverse field under same brand and also make huge money? The risk part is also manageable, compared to the specific product oriented business, because you can pull some of your non-performing segments, if needed. or can get going with new ideas under a big flagship. They call it fund raising !!!!

Indo-US nuclear Deal.

_______________________________________
India's quest for Nuclear Deal with uncle Sam.
_______________________________________

India and China are the world's one of the fastest growing economy, hopefully they will be able to sustain their immense economic growth in the coming years also. But most of the Economists are sceptic about the future curve, which has been projected as a sustainable range of 7-9 GDP.
Thats a herculian task for both of the nations.

If we look into recent trends of Shanghai and India, the dragon seems to be in far better position then the tiger, obvious ly why not :)
The real story is India imports a lion's share of Crude and Petrolium products from Iraq, Iran. 60% of indian oil consumptions depend upon how much they get from friend nations. We saw in gulf war how badly indian foreign exchange was affected. Thank god the war did not lasted long !!!!!

China with its fastest growing engine needs more oil than India, but their oil production is also huge, though they still import 30% of their consumption but their initiatives are enormous. In Yunnan Provience they are growing "jatropha" , so prospect for bio-fuel is good. Where as in India MP is a state where this initiative is taken, than to seeing its vast demand this is too less. (Using this fuel only in Chief Minister's car may not serve the whole purpose). The communist state has also vast land (known as new china, which joined China later) which has very vast oil reserves and being an agressive nation the companies are also going global with lots of acquisition and mergers in oil industry which makes it exposed to global market and to some extent they can controll the oil demand and pricing.

The idea is not to capture the oil barrels but to get a big share not a small pie in global energy market.
A short growth can cause recession if the growth is not sustained, and these two nations are working hard to put their feet in the global market. They know the road does not ends here and this is merely a beginning. Hence energy is a big factor. The men power can not be a factor for these fat countries.
There are two alternatives, burry trees and plants and keep them till they become gas or crude oil or explore possibility to use alternate energy.

India can hardly see and option, but to increase the alternative source of energy. Hydro power is badly affected because of the border issues with Bangladesh, Pakistan. The nuclear power is a potential alternative. The Ores available for radio active heavy metels are less and poor quality, to increase efficiency India knows that they have to Import from some country. After the Pokhran test hardly any nation will entertain if US denies!!!!

India requested US and in the mean time they have disclosed and opened the premises of their Nuclear Plants to Western Nations, (I have no idea why fissile materials are illegal and how they made it legal). But good news ! US will probably legalise teh US nuclear outfits :)
Now the march starts France also showed their interest in helping india with the energy scenario. (Where were they before?).
Late but atlease India can hope they can reduce thier dependency to some extent.
