Phobia is basically a Greek word which refers to relentless fear of "Anything". A person can be phobic of any action, situation, object, person, animal, living or dead. It follows a state of severe and unreasonable desire to avoid the fear. To a severe extent they can lead to anxiety disorder.

These can be of three types:
Social – fears involving social situations such as performance anxiety or fears of embarrassment by scrutiny of others, such as eating in public.
Specific phobias – fear of a single specific panic trigger such as spiders, dogs, elevators, water, flying, etc.
Agoraphobia – a generalized fear of leaving home or a small familiar 'safe' area.
